about

My old friend and most excellent supported Renae visited Mona with her partner Kat and so I had to get her behind the sticks. Renae played drums for legendary Brisbane punk band Gazoonga Attack whom Giants of Science played more than one show with over the years. Anyway it was such a thrill to have a jam with Renae and we ended up writing this really rad, very Built to Spill esque jam. Title copped from Antiques Roadshow again then extrapolated, additional lyrics supplied by Chris Yates, never thought I would get “genuflect” into a song but here we are, what does it all mean? Thanks Renae and thanks Chris.

lyrics

Incorruptible souvenir
What brought you here
There’ll be snow on the mountain tomorrow
You go, I’ll stay but I’ll follow
Everybody wants a brilliant trajectory
But I just want you to be straight with me
I like it when the middle order is exposed
That’s the bastard in me I suppose

Oooh I’m a sacral architect
And you’re a complex devotional object

Shine on the glass Fading fast
Into the shallow decline
Of the perfect time
(and the perfect space)
Resisting the pace
Lying flat on your face
Nervous system collapsing
I’m relapsing, relapsing

Oooh I’m a sacral architect
And you’re a complex devotional object
Well I fall to my knees and I genuflect
You’re such a complex devotional object

There’s no stain on the glass
And I’m falling fast
And there’s no mark on the wall
And you were never here at all

Incorruptible souvenir
What brought you here
There’ll be snow on the mountain tomorrow
Everybody wants a brilliant trajectory
But I just want you to be straight with me
I like it when the middle order is exposed
That’s the bastard in me I suppose
