about

I went to Launceston for two days in around week four to perform at the Mona Foma festival with Mainlanders. While I was gone the staff at Mona left a sign saying "Gone, To Launceston". I wrote a song. It's a bit of a mish mash of Launceston memories, real and imagined.

lyrics

Gone, To Launceston
Music & Words by Ben Salter

Gone, to Launceston, again
Get into the car and drive straight to the bar and start drinking with my boyfriends
And I had plenty to say cause
After all, it was my birthday
And I’m gone, to Launceston, again

Gone, to Launceston again
Smoking dope at the door of hope
That 50 really was a godsend
Drunk on that flamboyant beer
Getting in everybody’s ear
Cause I’m gone, to Launceston, again

Gone, to Launceston, again
I’m gorging away on a beautiful day
Unlikely to re-offend

Max has his tongue in my ear
And there is nothing to fear
Cause I’m gone to Launceston again

Gone, to Launceston, again
Gone, to Launceston, again
